Ranmaru (蘭丸) is a character in Yasuke. He was a retainer of Nobunaga Oda and possibly a lover.
Appearance[]
Ranmaru is a young, somewhat androgynous-looking man with long black hair and gray eyes.
Personality[]
Ranmaru is loyal to Nobunaga and loves him deeply.
Plot[]
In 1579 at Nanban Tradeport, Nobunaga was shopping for Ranmaru. Nobunaga shows him a cloth and Ranmaru finds it beautiful. They hear some commotion and Ranmaru wishes to stop the arguing, but Nobunaga tells him to leave them, and ends up interested in Yasuke.
In 1582, during the battle at Honno-ji Temple, by Nobunaga orders, Ranmaru is secretly smuggled with the last ship and taken to safety.
Etymology[]
- The name Ranmaru means "orchid" (蘭) (ran) and "round, circle, pills, purity, suffix for ship names, complete" (丸) (maru).
